Thanks.
No reply needed to this…I realize you are busy.
But one little story for you–
After 5 days of wearing real undies (2 days after 3 Day Potty Training)…a dear friend who had her 2nd baby, 8 years after her first–wanted to see us before she had to go back to work. She lives 1.5 hours away.
Was dying to see the new baby and her! So off we went on our first road trip and not in diapers!
I keep a spare pair of everthing in the car….tee-shirt, pants/shorts, undershirt and underwear.
So for our road trip I was covered–but grabbed an old gatorade bottle.
Figured he would have to potty on the roadtrip. Can you guess….my first child. Some other moms I knew had some porta potty in their car–they have girls. I explained to my son–your words–you are in charge. It’s your body, you have to let me know when you have to potty. OK? He said OK.
So off we go…(I admit, I did not give him much to drink before we left, so that we could make decent time)….about 30 minutes into the trip he informs me he has to go. So I immediately pulled way over off the side of the interstate….nice flat area….way off the burm–jumped out, ran around to his side of the car–got him out and it dawned on me right then and there!
Hey, he’s a boy, why did I bring a plastic bottle?!? Helped him get his pants down and said aim for the grass big guy! Did our best to make sure the wind was at our back–He was awesome and enjoyed it–and everytime he said he had to go, he did–so not completely taken with doing it outdoors–thank goodness! I think this is when he mastered the whole standing up to pee and enjoying it! So take a road trip–vs. some plastic Peter Potty!
Also to let you know….in our 2 months since using your method and book–he has only had 2 accidents –one at pre-school and one in the park after having to go but saw condition of potty in park….I offered him the opportunity to go around the back of building, but he said no, it was okay…but he had to have a BM–got bothered by condition of potty–few minutes later, had his BM–so grateful for the back up clothes & told him these things happen, no big deal…etc. –but no set backs what-so-ever.
Again, best $24-25 I spent.
Thanks & smiles right back at ya!
