Zach has done pretty well the past couple days.I haven’t asked him or reminded him to go potty & he’s said, I go potty.He’s still stopping midstream, however.Yesterday after running to the potty twice & going a tiny bit, he had a big accident #1, but as he was going in his pants he ran straight into the bathroom and started crying saying, I go potty!He hasn’t done #2 though.He slept all night w/no accidents.He’s done well today, no accidents & saying, I go potty twice today. I just hope he starts going #2!!What’s your thoughts on him stopping midstream? Is this something he’ll eventually get with practice? Thank you so much again! You have been SO GREAT!!!

Thank you for getting back to me. I just got done making my magic potty wand. So I will start that tomorrow and pray that it works. Every time she goes in the potty I not only give her a lot of praise, but she gets to put a sticker on her chart as well as pick out a piece of candy or chocolate. The first day she filled a whole row on her chart so she got a toy as well. She seems to be happy with all of this, but still cries when it’s time to go on the potty. I’m afraid to take her anywhere till she’s trained and I don’t know how much longer we can go on like this. She seems scared and it’s breaking my heart. 1) Thank you for the quick response. I will refocus on staying right next to him and giving tones of praise and reminders. Sometimes I think he even pees in his pants just to put a different truck underwear, so I agree with your suggestions.

2) Yesterday, while I was focusing on getting him to stay in bed during the night, I kept on reminding him to warn me if he wanted to go potty. He desperately wanted to get in our bed (it lasted for 2h30) but eventually he asked to go to the potty and he was successful and then fell asleep almost immediately. I think his night wakings might be related to the discomfort of a full bladder and are stressed by the bad sleeping habits. I will start at square one and proceed as you suggested.

3) He releases at random times from day to day. He skips some days and has 2 BM on others. He becomes restless when he needs to go and tends to start whining. This behaviour can last between 5min and 45min until he goes. I continuously ask him if he needs to go, take him to the potty (but don’t force him to sit if he resists) and give him praise. And other time he just stops doing whatever his up to and goes in 2 sec.

Thank you for your thorough response! At the end of Day 3 (Wednesday) She finally started getting it in the potty. She did very well and didn’t have any accidents yesterday, although we went to the bathroom and sat on the potty a ton and most of the time she didn’t do anything.

I still am looking for her to give me a verbal clue. She is telling me she needs to go potty by jumping up and running into the bathroom, but she is doing this all the time! Only about a third of the time does she actually go. She just played this game and ran into the bathroom and sat on the potty about 5 times but was kind of playing around when she was on there so I would let her sit a while and then take her off. Then, I put her down for her nap and she had an accident within 5 mins. She never has accidents in bed! So, I think she is getting confused or something.

At night she wakes up and hollers out so I run in and take her potty every time. Three times last night. She peed on the potty once but the other two times she just sat there half way asleep. She didn’t have an accident, but I don’t know when I should take her at night.

I think she needs a little work on 1. telling me (I would love to have a verbal clue) and 2. only telling me when she really needs to go. Do you have any tips?

I think the method is wonderful and I am very impressed that my 18 month old is basically potty trained.
