potty train a 2 yr old

lots of bedtime potty visits

Saturday, July 14th, 2007

Well, we had tremendous success today. I can hardly believe it, but our son is potty trained in just one day!!!!

This morning he had 4 accidents. He did *not* wet his bed during his 2 hour nap. He had 1 accident after naptime. Since then, he’s peed on the potty 6-8 times and even pooped on the potty too!!! Woo hoo! Not only that, he’s telling us when he has to go, and asking us to take him to the potty. It was a long day, but soooo worth it. I think being potty trained after only 5 pee accidents is pretty amazing for a 33 month old.

We are thrilled with the results. Now he is in bed, no diaper. Prayerfully, he will make it through the night with no accidents. But I’m a believer so far!!

Thanks so much!!

couple of questions

Tuesday, July 3rd, 2007

First - thank you for your book - after reading it, I was finally inspired to do it! My son responded very well, only a couple of accidents, but otherwise very smooth sailing. It’s been just about 4 days and I think he has got it for the most part. It’s truly awesome to be able to say that my son was potty trained in 3 days! My son is almost 3 - (32 months) very adverse to change/learning of any kind and totally shy.

Here are my questions for you.

He seems to be holding his poopy in for very long periods of time and waits until the last minute to tell me. Sometimes to the point that he will grab his butt - we run to the potty, and then nothing happens. This happens a couple times in a row, then we have a “real” trip to the potty and he gets half in his underwear and half in the toilet. Is this normal? Any recommendations on high fiber foods to give him?

How long should I wait before taking my son on a weekend trip - unfamiliar toilets / travel / accommodations? Do you have any recommendations on how long to wait to make sure potty training is “ingrained” before hitting the road. (I suspect the answer will be “it depends on your child’s temperament”; but maybe there are general timelines to help insure success.

Thanks again for your book - I have been recommending it all over the place! (even strangers in baby’s r us)!

Potty Training Success

I just wanted to thank you for your book. I had so many different people giving me advice about my three year old I just didn’t know what to do, really this was a last resort! Our biggest fear was that Ian wasn’t waking up from naps and bedtime dry so we were a little skeptical about parts of your method. On the first day we went through 3 pair of underpants and he took a short nap stayed dry and went to bed and he woke up dry! We were so amazed! It took 2 1/2 days and each day he got better, his first day back at daycare went fantastic! No accidents and he has been great ever since. Thank you so much, common sense is the key. He just needed a little shove in the right direction, it will make it so much easier when his little brother gets to potty training age. Again thank you and good luck to everyone else!

Another success story from England

Friday, June 8th, 2007

Hello Lora,

A few months ago I read your website about potty training and bought your Ebook and prepared myself for the potty traing of my 2 1/2 year old stubborn son.

It was the Easter weekend that I planned all this for and the weather was lovely. My partner was off from work too and working in the garden.

Day three was a great success and he was wearing stickers on all his clothes for being such a good boy. No accidents and he received his presents with pride!

Day four we wents to two seperate supermarkets and he went to the toilet in one and stayed in the trolley during the other shop and went to toilet as soon as we got home.

This was my biggest challenge and we managed it brilliantly and I could shout this form the roof tops. I AM SO HAPPY.

We use washable nappies and to now only have to wash them for one baby is amazing and my eldest son seems to have grown more confident because of your way of potty training. The responsibility he had about his own habits was exactly what he needed and I only wish I had found your method before.

It is so simple, I will start my youngest when he is 22 months old.

I have also recommended you to loads of my friends and cannot thank you enough for your book.

Thank you again and good luck promoting your method!!!!!!!!!!

Many greetings from England from a Dutch girl, Yvonne Zevenbergen

RE: potty training mentoring

Well, she got the hang of it on her own. On Saturday she pooped twice in her underwear and then got the third time in the potty. On Sunday it went straight in the potty, so it seems that she has figured it out!

I don’t know if Willow is just a very easy child, or whether we just happened to try at exactly the right time (29 months), or whether it truely is this approach to potty training or what but this process has been very easy and she has basically been accident free since the first pee in the potty (part from those two poops). I hear all sorts of stories from others of how it took them weeks or months before their kids stopped having accidents. We have truely been amazed! I am curious - do most of of the people you help have this easy a time, or are we just lucky?!

I’d be happy to write a short endorsement for your website if you would like.

Thanks,
Sasha
