child tells me when they have to go potty

Day 5

Individual experience. Results will vary.

Hi Lora,

I wanted to fill you in on our progress yesterday. I am pleased to say that we only had 1 accident…yep 1!!! And he pooped on the potty too!! He is telling us almost everytime he needs to go. Do all kids wait until they are about to pee their pants before they tell you they need to go?? I wish I had the bladder control that he does!!

Well I’m so glad that I stuck with it even though I was frustrated to tears. I think he finally gets it now. The next thing we will tackle is leaving the house and using potty’s other than our own. I’ll keep you updated.

“3 day potty training” Day #2!!!!!!!!!

Ok so Caity slept through the night with no diaper!!!!!! and didn’t have one single accident!!!!!!!

But as soon as she started waking up I put her on the potty chair and she went forever, LOL.

*********************Night update:

Ok so Caity had not ONE single peepee accident in her panties today.

Yesterday was kind of messy, But man this method is awesome. I can’t believe my eyes.

It like she woke up this morning understanding that she needed to tell me that she had to pee. and we will RUNNNNNNNNN to the potty and pull down the panties and go…..then scream and jump up and down.

You can tell she is really proud of herself. Although she hasn’t left the house since monday, I would feel confident takin her to the grocery store tomarrow. if fact I might try it just to see what she does if she has a good night and morning.

She went poop in the potty once……………….Then did have an accident, but I really think it was a true accident. Beacuse she came running in saying YUCKKKK, I need peepeeeeee. And you could tell she was generaly grossed out, and she never acted grossed out by her poop when she wore diapers. it was really runny poop, and I dont think she could hold it to make it inside to the little potty.

We will see how tonight goes.

I can’t believe she hasnt had a single diaper since monday, OMG, it just seems crazy.

This is three days of total dedication, but OMG Soooooooooooo worth it.

We will be camping all weekend so more 1 on 1 time not leaving each others site, and practicing.

I feel like i’m in boot camp with my daughter. But with this kind of awesome sucess in 48hrs, I’m a true believer in the 3 days method.

I used the 3 day potty training method without pull ups and etc. It went great. My son never had accidents through the night at all. It was the best method I have ever used. He had been potty trained for about 3 months now. The pooping in his pants takes a little longer to get over, but now he pretty much goes poop on the potty all of the time for me.

I wouldn’t trade those 3-5 days of dedication and frustration for months and months like other parents who are using pullups.

I Prayed Today It Would “Click” - It Did

Individual experience. Results will vary.

Today is Day #3 of Potty Training. During my “quiet time” this morning I prayed specifically that today would be the day that it “clicks” with William. It did. We have had NO accidents… we have pooped in the potty TWICE and I’ve even been interrupted during a tension-filled phone conversation I was having with a dear friend with William wimpering loudly “mommy I want to go potty!” … His big sister is SOOOO proud of him - probably because every time he goes SHE also gets M and M candies to eat… just trying to give her the benefit of the doubt.

Things are going well. If anyone needs advice on potty training don’t come to me just go buy the ebook by Lora Jensen and be encouraged that your little one will be done with diapers in 3 days from now

My Very Clever Little Boy
Has Proved Lora Jensen Right!

Yep, we have tackled the big old toilet training issue during the 2nd week of the holidays.I was going to leave it until the summer holidays, but then thought maybe I’d go for it this week. I had forgotten that I had a book about potty training (Gina Ford) and whilst on line looking for a free potty chart, I came across Lora Jensen’s ad for 3 day potty training.Yes, you read that right….3 days! I half snorted with laughter- yeah right, 3 days? Most people I know are at it for ages. But I read on…..then bought the e-book (hoping I wasn’t wasting my money). I have to say my son is an absolute star! I never thought I could get excited about someone peeing on the toilet :).

The first three days were non-stop but you know what? IT WORKS!!!!!! Of course there are accidents and the whole dressing/undressing and climbing on the toilet issues still need addressing but so far today there have been no accidents! Oh….and I only have to change one lot of nappies- how nice :)

However Matthew is going through a ’scream if I am put down or mummy leaves the room’ stage- so with the constant toilet trips life has not been fun (add coughs all round and limited sleep and you get the picture). The coming week will be a real tester for Daniel as he is going to go to pre-school for three sessions a week rather than one (no, I didn’t just laugh with glee!). I am so glad that we have done this now. Hopefully by the summer we will have dry nights all the time too :) Of course, I haven’t got much else done as I have to drop everything at the words ‘I need the toilet’.

Ahhhhh. There are other things happening at the moment too- I’ll try and write again soon- but please leave your congratulations for my very clever little boy who has proved Lora Jensen right! Now I just need a full 12 hours of sleep and a child free day to catch up…….can I buy that on line too? Hmmm, thought not.

hi lora,

well, she did it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! she had no accidents today. thank you for your suggestions.

i’m so proud of her. one time today she even told me that she had to go potty instead of doing the peepee dance. the rest of the day she did the dance and i was able to tell that she needed to go the potty. she also had two poops today and both times she told me she had to go poop!

i was getting so disappointed and frustrated that i wasn’t recognizing her signals, and now i’m more confident. you are right about being consistent, praising and focused. next is my other little girl who is 18months. in 4 months i will train her too.

my next question is this, do i continue to tell her to tell me when she needs to go peepee or poopoo? she’ll be starting preschool in june, how do i tell her to tell her teacher to let them know when she needs to pee or poop?

thank you for your time and patience with me.

i know i have other questions that i can’t think about now, but i will email you.

thank you again,
